Deferred Pay

Compensation promised 'after the project sells or profits.' In practice, indie films almost never profit enough to pay deferred compensation. It's essentially working for free with a lottery ticket.

A way for productions to get professional labor at zero upfront cost. Technically legal, but the odds of seeing that money are near zero on anything under $1M budget.
